French
This quarter in French language arts, we will be working through units 5, 6, and 7. For each unit, there will be three weeks (which may be extended to four, depending on how quickly we are able to complete our readings and analyses of our texts), and for each week there will be a list of vocabulary words (lexique orthographique) students need to copy and create sentences for. The requirements for these lists are discussed in greater detail within the French Language Arts Document Library.
Unit 5 is about recycling and pollution, and we will use one Powerpoint presentation and one text in Mille Feuilles to learn about some of the problems we are contributing to as we create waste. Our writing project for this unit will be an opinion piece on what we can do to improve our environment and address a pollution problem. Students will create a pamphlet and a Flipgrid video the presents their pamphlet.
Unit 6 focuses on fairy tales (but not one we are familiar with), and unit 7 then looks at fairy tales from other cultures. In unit 6, we will write our own fairy tale and act it out. In unit 7, we may act out a different tale from a different culture.

Quarter 3 French vocabulary
Students will work with a new vocabulary list each week. They need to make sure they have copied all of the words, definitions, and examples into their journals and that they've drawn a picture to go with each word. They also need to write a sentence for each word. I've included the Powerpoint presentations with the vocabuarly words, definitions, and examples. Please make sure your student is keeping up with copying and creating sentences for the vocabulary words, He or she can help you with pronunciations, or if you would both like some support, wordreference.com is a great resource.
